Physical Education
The Academy educational experience is much more than just challenging academics. Our holistic program educates our children intellectually, ethically, and physically. Students in all grades participate in Physical Education classes that meet twice weekly. In Early Children Physical Education students refine gross motor skills, which includes fun activities that focus on balance, space awareness, body awareness, jumping, landing, and learning about your body. Lower School continues to develop motor skills and will start to learn cooperative games, team sports, team-building activities, as will as encouraging physical fitness activities and fitness tests. Middle School will have an enhanced level of physical fitness activities, group-building activities, as well as more in-depth lessons on team sports. In addition Middle School students are exposed to a variety of individual and team sports.
Middle School students also have the unique local opportunity to participate in team athletic competitions in a league with other independent middle school programs in Salt Lake City and Ogden. The goals of the Academy athletic program are to develop teamwork skills, physical strength and stamina, self-esteem, sportsmanship, and self-discipline
The Wasatch Athletic Conference schools include: Rowland Hall, Waterford, Grace Lutheran, Christ Lutheran, Redeemer Lutheran, Intermountain Christian, St. Joseph Catholic, St. Paul Lutheran, Christian Heritage, and Layton Christian. The Wasatch Athletic Conference is the only middle school athletic conference in the state.
Depending on enrollment and sign-ups, the Academy fields teams in the following sports: Fall – Girls' Volleyball and Boys' Soccer Winter – Girls' and Boys' Basketball Spring – Girls' Soccer and Co-Ed Cross-Country (running) (students in Grade 4 may participate)
